SUNDAYS WITH JOYCE

KINDNESS

Proverbs 11:25 - The generous person will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.

Proverbs 19:22 - What is desirable in a person is kindness, and it is better to be poor than a liar.

Matthew 6:21 - Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 6:34a - Do not be anxious for tomorrow; tomorrow will care for itself.

Luke 6:27-31 - Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Luke 6:36-38 - Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. And do not judge and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. Give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, they will pour into your lap. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.

I Corinthians 13:4-8a, 13 - Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Now abide faith, hope and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Philippians 2:3-7 - Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.

Hebrews 13:1-2 - Let love of the brethren continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Today’s story about Kindness comes from  1 Kings 17:10.  In this book we read the story about a man named Elijah. Elijah loved God very much and spent all of his time telling people about God. One day Elijah met a woman. He asked her to make him some bread because he was very hungry. The woman told Elijah that she had very little food since she was very poor. She would use the last of her supplies to make bread for Elijah.

The woman was showing kindness to Elijah. God was glad that she showed kindness. In fact God made sure that the woman was not hungry by performing a miracle. The woman’s food supply would not run out. Whenever she needed food she had enough grain and oil to make bread. God met her needs because she was kind. I am glad the woman was kind to Elijah

"

Love is saying 'I feel differently' instead of 'You're wrong.'

~~~~~~~
"
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
~~~~~~~~~~

I

expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."

~~~~~~~~~
Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile."
~~~~~~~~~~~

Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the and the blind can see"

~~~~~~~~~~
You can gain more friends by being yourself than you can by putting up a front. You can gain more friends by building people up than you can by tearing them down. And you can gain more friends by taking a few minutes from each day to do something kind for someone, whether it be a friend or a complete stranger. What a difference one person can make!"
~~~~~~~~~~

Be kind to unkind people - they need it the most"

~~~~~~~~~~~
Spread love everywhere you go: First of all in your own house... let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness."
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses"

  1. Very well said dear friend! I try to be kind to everyone I meet each and everyday no matter how much they tick me off.

    Wanted to ask you if you have heard the new CD out by Mandisa yet? It is a wonderful piece of music. It's a bit on the gospel side and it's a wonderful CD. I listened to it as soon as I got it in the mail and couldnt' stop listening to it. If you're looking for some great "modern" gospel music, check it out. Mandisa is fantastic! Just wanted you to know.
