Light Left On.....a CRC #72 Write

Now is that time
when finding the way back home,
by letting ones heart shine like a beacon in darkness,
surprising dusk at the difference
a single light can make....is all it takes

to be whole without the other half,
to be majority when you feel like the minority
....that there are times we are called to be the only light
in the darkness of night

Lights off...
so is the need for pretense
and defense...eliminated

Lights on....
meaning someone's home
home...where the halls heckle of laughter and comfort,
where winds whispering sweet somethings against night's window sashes
making confident callings out to a faith-filled fate
"when are you coming home.....
I fixed your plate..."

March contents of warm breaths
exiting chilled faces
and buds of hope ready to protrude in cold spaces
Change...letting us know its time....
time to switch places

Here...where lies the evidence of a heart experiencing the exceptional prizery
of the art of family ties
that will not die

Asked...how is this different?

Home...where we don't lay guilt trips out to dry,
where we treat you with care..
as water under a bridge to the future rolls on by
where wall graffiti sketching "gone fishing for second, third and fourth thoughts"
"need help bringing in what you brought?"

Isn't it awesome that there is more to night
than just stars

For every season of a woman's life is supported by her commitment,
her promise to not just be an observer...but a participant
 Not taken for granted..but implanted
in a garden of devotion
overlooking romance's ocean

Hush...

listen to the insects play
hear the winds sway
back and forth
back and forth
while the leaves in the trees never let on
that they're there to protect home from the storm
that's coming
