Secrets.
Every house has them.
Pain provoked
never to habituated again.
Tears scattered
Spirits staled
Calamaties left behind
.......
humiliation moved on.
Windows broken
....
like transpicuous spirits.
Voices squealing in mental ears
like fingernails
across chalkboards
Nightmares
that came true
One night
A fire gutted the frame.
Everyone got out.
But truth
....
wasn't so lucky

transpicuous spirits...I like that :)
ReplyDeleteIn fact I like the way you often send my running for the dictionary ..lol.
terrible thought for truth to be incinerated...if truth dies where does that leave reality?
I love this one, Joyce. Every house has secrets, the dead truths left behind, destroyed, denied, murdered but haunting the places they died...I love the way you used the houses here to symbolize the people haunted by the secrets they deny. It gives new life to an important truth.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking on this one...I find it hard to imagine how truth can be killed. It can be hidden, denied, spat on, humiliated, mocked, ignored, flaunted...but it doesnt die. It just is.

...haunting lines.
Hence, its ability to haunt. Isn't that what a ghost is? Something presumed to be dead--but not really dead?
ReplyDeleteHmm, makes sense that truth could not be destroyed by fire. I reckon its past haunts the house.

ReplyDeleteSecrets,Nightmare,Fire. Great poetry.http://neuron66.multiply.com/journal/item/15
ReplyDeletethanks Nik...and I liked yours too...
ReplyDeleteReality, Frances.....is in the mind. Whatever is true...whatever is real. it dies amid material things, but it is always there...always there...
ReplyDeletethanks for enjoying this as much as I did the picture....
Lunar, house is used interchangeable as a literal body, and as a dwelling. So cool that you caught that.. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for the read, and the shared thoughts
The fire burned down the house...that was literal. Truth being lost, meaning that whatever pain occurred, it can't be changed, or escaped. Secrets in families die as they move on, as people pass on...but in our minds..we never forget
ReplyDeleteActually as I was writing this, a flashback from Forrest Gump came back to me, where the lady was throwing rocks at the house. I imagine the house yelling secrets in whatever shape it is in..even burning to the ground. Some can so vividly detail things that happened to them many many years ago by looking at a house, a picture, or hearing a word used....it gets very real when the memories come flooding back....
ReplyDeleteyes, Lunar....the truth is a recorded event, recorded forever in the mind...even when there is no evidence left...How frightening is that??@!?!?/
ReplyDeleteYes it does, Expressive....some things I'd love to forget, but I can't...
ReplyDeletethanks for the read....
thank you , Stuffed ducky!
ReplyDeleteTrue, neuron...and thank you for stopping by to read..and comment!
