Sundays With Joyce

FAITH

Psalm 23:6.....Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
James 1:6.....But he must ask in faith without any doubting,

for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

Matthew 6:34.....Take therefore no thought for the morrow:

for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

I Corinthians 16:13.....Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

Psalm 1:6.....For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will perish.

Matthew 17:20.....For truly I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed,

you shall say to this mountain, "Move from here to there" and it shall move;

and nothing shall be impossible to you.

Psalm 71:1.....In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust;

let me never be put into confusion.

Psalm 62:8.....
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him,

for God is our refuge.

Romans 1:17.....For in the gospel a righteousness is being revealed,

a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Faith is vitally important in the life of the Christian. It is by faith that you are saved; you are justified; cleansed, and look forward to the return of Jesus. Faith is where you please God, admit your dependence upon Him, and continually seek to rely upon Him and His grace. I would like to close by asking you these question: "What has faith changed in your life? What are faith’s evidences in your life? Is faith growing in your life?

  1. The Road Of Faith

    Shine your light O Lord
    So that I may see
    Just where I am heading
And what’s in front of me

    Your word is the light
    The lamp unto my feet
It may not light far ahead
Nor show me where it’s steep

    But it gives enough light
    For each step I take
    Just enough to see ahead
    Along this road of faith

For this is what it surely is
As we walk with Jesus Christ
The road that we are travelling on
Is by faith, not by sight

So shine your light O Lord
So we may see our way
Though you only show in part
It’s enough for each new day

  2. on any other day these words may seem so fitting...but...today they seem like faded whispers in an abyss of morbidity..i kno the joys of these words and i kno their power...but today...they seem so weak..for today i have to say good bye to love and all it wondrous gifts...i have indulged in my own selfish sorrow...for i remember love when love was truly the jewel and fuel of the heart...

i remember how grey clouds just seem so soft and inviting and i embraced the rain and wind with joy...for i knew love..today i say farewell to and shall for the rest of time...and i will also remember that was never mine...yes these words are indeed true formed into great verses...but today i have to say goodbye to love..today i die...i hate these holidays...i hate the mockery..i hate saying good to bye love..my friends..

  5. Faith untested is not faith - it is an unfounded and unproven belief - true faith requires action - great post

  6. Wonderful post today, Joyce!!! There was a time a few years ago, I had just about lost hope and faith but one song kept me from doing so...That song was "jesus take the wheel" by Carrie Underwood. The first time I heard that song, I felt at peace and I just let Jesus take the wheel so to speak. And ya know what? I still to this day turn to that song when all seems to be lost because they are never lost when I have Jesus at the helm.

Thanks for today's sermon. God bless!!!

  8. Rick, I am sorry that you have to spend this time of year feeling losses. God knows I know where you are. I will be praying with you that you can find some kind of peace, and comfort as you sttempt to pick up the pieces.

Thinking of your situation makes me think of the poem I wrote recently, NOT ENOUGH UMBRELLAS...
