SUNDAYS WITH JOYCE

CONFESSION

Confess Jesus is Lord     Romans 10: 9   That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved

Confess sins, God forgives    Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1: 9    He that covereth his sins shall not prosper:  but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confess sins to each other     James 5: 16    Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer  of a righteous man availeth much.

Fasting and confession of sin     1 Samuel 7: 6    And they gathered together to Miz'-peh, and drew water, and poured it out before the Lord, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the Lord, and Samuel judged the children of Israel in Miz'-peh

Notable confessions     Matthew 16: 16, John 1: 49; 4: 29; 6: 69; 11: 27; 20; 28, 29

And Simon Peter answered and said , Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Na-than'-a-el answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the Son of Israel

Come, see a man, which told me all things that I ever did:  is not this the Christ?

And we believe and are sure that thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

She saith unto him, Yea, Lord:  I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

And Thomas answered and said unto him, my Lord and my God.  Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed:  blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

PARDONING LOVE

The sinner bowed before the throne,
With tears and sorrow on his face,
"I am not worthy to be called Thy son,
Thy law of love, I have disgraced."

"Oh Lord, I’ve done so many things,
I’ve killed, I’ve stolen from the poor,
I’ve persecuted the ones that love Thy law,
And now, my punishment is death, I’m sure."

"My family and friends,
I’ve hurt beyond repair,
Have mercy on me oh Lord,"
The sinner cried in deep despair.

"Forgiveness, peace and love,
I long to obtain from Thee,
For you alone can do this work,
To save and pardon me."

"My words are too feeble,
My strength is almost gone,
Have mercy on me, o Son of David,
Have mercy on me, o Holy One."

Tears streaming down his face,
His eyes are sunken to the ground,
And then a hand has touched his brow,
"Arise my son, for in thee favor I have found."

The sinner looked unto the Savior
"I pledge my life and all that I have to Thee,
For I want the world to know it,
I serve the One who gave His life because of me.

Nothing is more precious than to serve Him,
The One who died for you and me,
For love is only spelled in blood,
On the hill of Golgotha, the cross of Calvary.

  3. Wonderful as always! I like naughtyangel's comment as well. That just about sums it up right there. Might I borrow that with your and naughty ange's permission of course? It is so wonderful that God can forgive us no matter what--if we believe in Him and do His will. There are so many that go around telling lies, hurting others, etc but yet say that they are Christian and God will forgive them no matter what. I try to live by God's words every single day--don't always succeed but I do know I believe in Him and that He loves me. There is a song that I turn to everytime I feel that things have gotten to hard for me to deal with, when things just aren't going well at all. I listen to this song in my head and it calms me. It's Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take the Wheel". If more people would just let "Jesus Take the Wheel", I think they would be much happier with their lives.

    Thanks for another great post!

  11. Naughty...The Bible says, "Let everything that hath breath..praise the Lord" Why wait until we need Him to call upon His name...

I don't claim anything but faith in God, and knowing that He loves me, and died for every oen of my sins...that is more than enough for me to call on His name, and confess that I love Him!

Thanks for you sincere words, lady
