reflections
of what a dent in my life
time has made
people have made
tracing my steps
peeping inside the shadows
flashbacks
of yesterdays
spent
in the sunshine
in the shade
memories
of love
of familiarity
of whimsical laughter
that meet me
then they fade
visits from casual acquaintances
cherished experiences
and those
I thought I knew
welcomes
jaunts
with long time friends
perhaps overstayed
flashbacks
of magic we made
of plans best laid
for a moment
I had it made in the shade
I will never forget
what you meant to me
then my life
one big competitive game
of hide and seek
emotional charades
Simon said
spin the bottle
comes to a screeching halt
like a bird is supposed to do
before
it hits a windshield
Rewind
I missed something...
No
I'm tired of missing something
I cannot call my own
Like that one moment
"...when I fucked it all up"
and I expected tomorrow
to come to my aid
to save me
and it never does
So
I'm taking a flight
Catching the next mental plane
Gonna hitch a ride
and travel to
a brand new dream
to where the wind
unmistakeably
is calling MY name
and it's really me
only me
ONLY ME
ONLY ME
ONLY ME
( I have to keep saying that
so I can believe it)
in the reflection...
that I see
