LOVING YOU...A WRITING EXERCISE

"Cold Cold Heart" by Norah Jones

I've tried so hard my dear to show
That you're my every dream
Yet you're afraid each thing I do
Is just some evil scheme

A memory from your lonesome past
Keeps us so far apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

Another love before my time
Made your heart sad an' blue
And so my heart is paying now
For things I didn't do

In anger unkind words are said
That make the teardrops start
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

There was a time when I believed
That you belonged to me
But now I know your heart is shackled
To a memory

The more I learn to care for you
The more we drift apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

Until the end of time, I will hold you close to my heart.  The sum of who you are has nothing to do with the present.  Loving you is not precipitated by what you can give me, or do for me.  Neither is it dependant on you being present in my life.  If you are living your life to the best of your ability, then that's all I can realistically ask.

Just as I breathe without thinking, so do I love you.  I just do.  Love is in me.  We can call it adoration; but adoration, in the highest form is the worship given to God alone.

And it doesn't even have to be returned.  It just feels good to know that I love someone who lives, that I am capable of love.  That I CAN love.  It is a gift from God, not, without conditions.

Profound love or regard.  I would have placed, at your heart. the sum of who I am, and could be for you.  I would have accepted you for who you are.  I didn't have to be Number One.  Your cold heart may not even be cold.  It might just be the way you deal with stuff you cannot interpret clearly.  And I so understand.  Just know that I love you.

I love you.

I will always love you

Love is always bestowing and not taking,
not demanding, not insisting, not persisting
in making requirements for another,
for love just loves without predication,
without drawing a picture for someone else,
without expecting anything, for loving of itself is its own return.
When you let go of everything,
every idea, every belief,
everything you hold on to,
then you will love
and then you will know

there is nothing else in Heaven or on Earth.
