I'm missing you not only for your smile,

I paused today to make a birthday wish
to remember all your loving ways
and the smile on your face
Birthdays do not end with death
But last as long as we continue to love
and hold memories of good times to heart
that life you celebrated with us will never depart
In so many ways I miss you
Remembering when we were so close
I visit you by looking in the mirror
at the reflection of the part of you
who favors you the most
It's all that I have left of you
as I stand an empty hallway
inwardly distracted
Neither here nor there.
Watching the years fly by like the wind
and though time may seem unkind
